Do you enjoy staying up to date with current world events?

Do you like chatting about global news with other like-minded students?

Do you have an interest in politics, foreign affairs, and inter-state relations?

If so, CIRS is the place for you!

We are a community of diverse individuals dedicated to learning about and better understanding current global affairs, preparing the next generation of leaders (that's you!) and cultivating lifelong connections and friendships. At CIRS we encourage networking, socialisation, learning and self-expression. Everyone is welcome, regardless of what you study! Here you'll be provided the opportunity to hear from guest speakers, engage in friendly debates, grow your network and talk about your interests in a social setting.

CIRS Debates This House Believes.... TBC   CIRS invites you to our first Oxford Union-style debate, a formal, adversarial format modelled on one of the world's oldest and most respected deliberative traditions; two sides, one motion, and a room that decides who makes the better case.   Unlike a panel discussion, this is a debate in the truest sense: prepared speakers argue opposing positions, face live challenges from the floor, and attempt to move the room. The winner is determined not by who starts with the most support, but by how many votes they change.   Expect tight arguments, pointed questions, and a vote that actually matters. Whether you're coming to speak from the floor, to be persuaded, or to watch the format in action, all are welcome.   Format Pre- and post-debate vote — the swing determines the outcome Open floor contributions from all attendees Formal Chair throughout   Speakers Proposition: TBC TBC Opposition: TBC TBC Chair: Connor Maloney – President, Curtin International Relations Society Details Date: TBC Time: TBC Location: TBC

Coming Soon — CIRS x CERN In Conversation: The Manosphere   Curtin International Relations Society and the Curtin Extremist Research Network are teaming up to host an event exploring the manosphere and its links to radicalisation and extremist ideologies.   Bringing together researchers and academics from across International Relations, Strategic Studies, and History, this discussion-style panel will encourage open, cross-disciplinary dialogue on one of the most pressing issues today.   More details, including confirmed panellists, venue, and date, will be announced soon.
